When I wrote in January about the weather, I spoke to soon!  Snow fell in abundance on 4th February 2012 and we had a very cold snap that lasted over a week.

March was good with a strong lambing season resulting in lots of little lambs skipping around in the fields.  The feed stocks lasted well and it was good to see the days getting longer.  Ten red polls have calved all very well with good strong healthy calves.

We sold almost all of our fat lambs at Melton Mowbray market to a very strong trade.  The crops are all in the ground with spring barley  and sugar beet drilling completed.

April was the wettest month since records which delayed turnout.  The cows have only just started to go out in May. We need warmer weather now to help everything grow!
